Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper limb, which includes the shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand. Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists use their expert skills in assessment and treatment to restore and improve upper limb function following injury, overuse, or an impairment from birth. Hand therapists are specialists in diagnosing, fabricating thermoplastic splints, developing exercise programs to restore movement and strength, completing wound care and managing scars.
